Another good way is to use a #0-2 offset hook and a split shot. I caught a couple on the Willamette this last weekend Split shotting a tube. I was running my split shot about 18" above my tube. You adjust your split shot with the clarity of the water. If you are fishing where there is not alot of obstacles you can also run a 1/8 house jig head through the tube and leave the hook exposed. I think your fish hook up ratio goes up with this method, but so does your rock, and brush hook up. There are many other ways to do it, but these are simple and work well. Texas rig, like Bassin suggested is another great way. That is how I use to fish tubes until I started split shotting them. Good luck.

And don't forget the Drop Shot. anywhere from 4" to 24" from the weight.

I fish gitsits on the John Day when the water warms. A 1/4 oz. jighead ran through the tube. Early I use pumpkinseed then switch to chaurtruce later in the year. Just cast it into light current and bounce it along the bottom.

Jigheads work fine. But I lose too many. I lose a lot less with the T-Rig.
Good luck.

They are also a good lure to skip under docks and low-lying trees or brush.

I've T-rigged them weightless, with these little oval shaped weights that have a hole on one side*, and with jig heads made for tubes..

I have the yamamoto and gidzits.

*These weights are inserted into the tube with the hole side going in head first, then rig it as you would a T-rig worm but before you pass the point of the hook all the way through, make sure you make the hook's point through the hole before you complete your T-rig. Sorry that I don't know what they're called.

Kris, there is no wrong way to fish a tube. A texas rig is hard to beat, a tube is probably the most versatile plastic bait there is.
