I am planning on going up to silver lake on saturday or sunday. I was wondering how the crappie and bass fishing has been. Also what is working. I have never used anything but plugs for bass and have no idea what works on the crappie. I would also like some help on where to fish. I plan on C&R everything, just looking for some good fishin. Thanks

The crappie are done. The bass should be fine but be at the lake EARLY! thats when the bass at silver bite best (5:30am).

Is that when they normally spawn there? Or was it due to early warm weather?

The bass fishing is picking up and I have heard of a few nice 5# fish caught on crank baits. My friends at Silver lake Resort has a son who has been doing very well. I spoke with them last night and fish are coming into the store. The crappie are done spawning but you can find them if you find the right cover. There are some trout still left but the birds have been having a hay day with them. Good luck..

Be advised that there is a WBC Club T on Silver Lake both days this weekend. Probably 30+ boats. Thought you'd like to know. At least, I won't be there! C&R, Steve

Maybe I'm developing a bad attitude in my old age, but I sure do like fishing on weekdays! Also, secluded little places with few boats and little pressure. Ok, stupid fish are also high on my list of priorities. I've found a lot of the best fishing in small lakes near the big, popular lakes, and the ones with "bad" boat launches, requiring 4wd. C&R, Steve
