With easter aproaching, I cant help but wonder why the "holiday" is celebrated in ways that have absolutely nothing to do with the events which lead to this celebration day which is in acknowledgement of the resurection of Christ.

Where did a rabbit that lays eggs come from? Seriously...I see so much on the television, the news, and in the papers how so many people are offended by religeous expression (namely Christianity) and the events that have lead to the banning of religious expression from public schools and government establishments such as courthouses that I am at my wits end. I feel like an unpopular minority! I am afraid to even mention the mere fact that I believe in my heart that Jesus is lord and savior. Not that the subject comes up a lot...but it recently has and I was assaulted with insults and told that the bible and all the words in it are a tale fabricated by men with nothing better to do.

How can people who think this be OFFENDED by religious expression? What are parents protecting thier children from by sheilding thier eyes and ears from the word of god? Why do parents lie to thier children and fabricate a rediculous story of peter cottontail, the mystical rabbit that craps out chocholate eggs...and allow the ever patronizing retail machine to do so as well yet are angered by anyone who might want to explain what easter Sunday signifies?

Easter Day AKA RESURECTION DAY ...right?

I am having serious thoughts of hanging a huge sign off the 205 bridge over I-5 that says "Happy resurection day!...offended? Suck a chocolate egg!"

Happy easter christian brothers and sisters. Pray for those who worship a pink marshmallow bunny, yet get offended by the suggestion that they too can have access to heaven.

I think it was on the history channel...prehistoric rabbits were 6 ft tall, purple, and had a peculiar femininity about them. You may be on to something HB...

RvW - Well put! :applause: :applause: :applause:

I'll admit that as far as the chocolate crapping bunny goes, I have no clue where that came from or how it got started. My guess - Hallmark. :bigshock:

But the answer to your question, as difficult as it is for some to swallow, is simply satan's way of diverting attention from the cross to anthropogenic rites, rituals and iconoclasms. (yeah, I know - that's a big word for a two-teef  j/k) It's human nature to be self indulgent and derive our own satisfactions by creating diversions from the truth. Simply put, the truth doesn't "feel" good. Nobody wants to hear that we're all sinners and separated from God. Nobody wants to hear that we should do what's right and not what satisfies our cranal desires. Nobody wants to hear that there's only one way to God. Nobody wants to hear that if they don't believe a certain way that they're going to hell. Jesus said "nobody comes to the Father but by Me." To the world, this is arrogant, exclusive and unfair.

With respect to the offensiveness of the Christian world view, I'll just say that it is prophetic. How ironic is it that a country that was founded on Christian principles now discriminates against Christianity more than any other religion? The more influence that Christianity has in this world, the more influence satan will have in trying to counter it.

When Christianity took over the dates of pagan holidays they left some of the pagan symbolism (christmas trees, easter bunny) in them so they'd be more attractive to the pagans and hopefully they'd be able to convert the pagans more easily. The members of the pagan religions also brought some of their traditions to Christian holidays when they converted.

Row Vs. Wade
Easter is a very special day for me as I was BORN AGAIN on Easter Day about 27 years ago, am not sure of the year but my oldest Daughter was 3 at the time and I think she is 30 now. My Wife was BORN AGAIN the day before Easter so she is 1 day older than I, SPIRITUALLY that is.
If you want to find how the bunny got into Easter goes to www.equip.org (http://www.equip.org) (CRI) and you can get books, tapes ECT. ECT. On the subject.

The Easter Bunny comes into play because of the start of spring use to be a sign of "rebirth" and the bunny signifies "fertility" along with the egg. The word "Easter" comes from the word "Ishtar", a goddess of fertility. When Chritianity came into vogue with Rome, they took the pagan festivals and turned them into Christian festivals so now we celebrate Christ being born on Dec. 25 instead of April, and the Ressurection at the arrival of spring. As long as we remind ourselves the reality of a Risen Lord, we shouldn't worry about what the pagans practice. He still rose.
