I have a continual problem with the snaps on my cooler giving way and the lid blowing open. I dont want to reverse the cooler because that would make it inconvenient to reach from within the boat. I figure I'll use two of these, but I dont know what they are called or where I can buy them...

Any info?

I don't know what they are called, but that is a darn good idea. I have the same problem. Good post. Let's hope someone knows where to get them. I'll look around too and let you know.
Thanks.

I know the Northriver dealer in Clackamas installed them on my buddies boat's 'great white' cooler (identical to the picture). So they should have them.

Big trucks, such as Kenworths etc, use those to hold the hoods down. They might be a little bigger, though.

Weekender,
I am curious about your cooler mounting hardware. Is it custom or are the parts available over the counter?

That photo came off of North Rivers website, so my assumption is that it is available through them. However, I work in a sheet metal shop, so if I can buy the straps and pins I can build the rest.

Weekender,
Thanks for the info. I will check out the web site. By the way, I have those rubber hold down thingies on my dog house. It's a Willie so I am sure they can get them for you as well.

They have those in the Automotive section towards the back at Gi Joe's. I believe they run about $8.00 bucks a piece.

Thanks for all the great info. I'll post pics of everything when I get it installed. I think it will work better than using a ratchet strap to hold the cooler on...

NAPA autoparts has them, typically on one of their rotary displays. They are in the same area as repacement window cranks, etc.
