With all the talk of kicker theft, I had a question. When I got my new kicker, I just used the clamps to secure it. Should I go ahead and drill holes to bolt the kicker to the transom or do the clamps work fine. The question isn't whether it will be stolen, just will the bolts work better in anyway?

Yep I think the bolts will work with the clamps for a better installation. After I clamp on my kicker, I use the two available holes in the kicker mount as a pattern to drill two new holes. Remove the kicker for drilling. Then I use two stainless steel bolts with washers, lock washers and nylon lock nuts on the inboard side of the transom to complete the install. I recommend a kicker clamp lock to finish.
All the other discussion on kicker theft recommendations are good too. Keep'er tight and insight.

I wouldn't run a new high thrust kicker.. or any kicker for that matter without bolting it down.....

Turn a sharp corner and gun that thing.. chances are it will try to slide off your transome!!

That's why my is bolted down!!

Bolt 'er down is the way to go. Especially w/ high thrust. Lock bar is good for extra protection too.
