That sum's it up for me.
Plan A for the weekend did not pan out. Neither did Plan B, nor C. So, at 1:00 p.m. - it was come up with a Plan D or the weekend would pass without a line getting wet.
Off to the Sandy I went for the afternoon fish. This is the weather I had to work with:

It was around 3:00 p.m. Some of you may have seen the Sage Rod magazine adds. The fisherman's thoughts - concentration, fixed on the fish, ready. Well, I guess there is a reason why I don't fish with a Sage. Here was what was going through my head.
"What a beautiful day . Wow, is it nice. Feels good to lean up next to this rock. Can't believe I am in shirt sleeves. Nice seam. Deep run. Getting a good drift. What's that. Line seems heavy. [pause]. Hmm. Must be a trout [pause, slight lift of rod]. That seems heavy for a trout [rod lifted a bit higher] .... That's must be a steelhead. [Half hearted rod lift]. WOW ! That is a big fish! [Putting some bend into the rod]. What .... shoooooooooot. What were you doing? That was a fish! You shouldn't be allowed to breed with that kind of hookset."
It was a classic - "I am denial about this hole fish on the end of my line thing" - cracker. It was a big fish - it showed me its flanks before doing the twist to free-itself from the weakly set hook :help:.
Of course - that was it for the afternoon. I did scour the run thinking I might get a second chance (yeah, right).
Here is the report. Water low and clear. 8.24' Surprising 51 degrees. Didn't hear or see anything else caught. Pressure light. The fly I hooked the fish on was a #8 Starlight Comet - purple (a starlight comet is a starlight leech with a bald head).
Though always sad to loose one, it was still great to have the opportunity.
