Help With 8 HP Merc lower unit

I am trying to drop the lower unit off of my new to me 8 hp Merc. It is a "97". I have the bolts removed from the lower unit and it has dropped down about an inch. :depressed: But it will not come any further which tell me there is some thing else that I need to do. :idea: Anyway if anyone has done this before and can give me alittle guidance that would be greatly appreciated. :bowdown: If anyone has an 8hp Merc manual that they would be willing to share :wave:I have a copier.

Probably a shift linkage or something still connected. Look near the powerhead and see if you can disconnect the shift linkage, and try it again.

that's right your shift linkage is still connected :cheers:
