How do you get the steering wheel off?

'97 Alumaweld intruder, push-pull cable steering. Need to remove steering wheel so I have access to dash to drill holes for new switches and fuse holders...

A gear puller is generally required. They are inexpensive and can be purchased at any auto parts store.

I had a stubern wheel onetime and i put a standard socket on the nut after loosening it and while pulling up on the wheel i had someone hit the socket with a hammer :smash: a couple of times and it came right off. :dance:

Thats how I do it.Never had any problems.Loosen the nut up so that the top of the nut is about flush with the last thread.You dont want to mess up any of the threads on the nut or shaft.
