My wife and I are headed to Brownlee for spring break. I will be taking my boat. Anyone have any recommendations and or locations for crappie, catfish this time of year. I heard that crappie fishing was good right now, dont know much more though. Any reports would be appreciated.

Don't know the water well enough but please report on how you do when you get back!
Crappie fishing has been real good around the cemetary. One of my buddies got 70 last weekend and they were all slabs. I heard good reports from the Powder Arm too.
Catfishing gets good around Huntington this time of year. Fish up in the moving water. Cutbait (crappie) always works best for me. You can launch at Spring boat ramp. Depending on how big your boat is, you can launch off the beach at the cemetary. There are unimproved camp spots there too.
You might run down Crappie Chaser on this board. He lives on the Powder Arm, and should have some real good intel for you.

I WOULD LIKE TO BE UP THERE . If you go to RICHLAND go to the grocery store across from the motel and talk to THORNEY .He is a wealth of information .
How far is the cemetery from the boat ramp at POWDER RIVER ? I know that you take a right at the mouth of the POWDER RIVER and head toward Farewell Bend .I have been as far as the Power Lines. I always thought that I had gone past the cemetery, but wasn’t sure? How do you recognize it? Are there headstones that you can see?
Thanks in advance for any information:

I have been away at the Spokane sports show and just saw your post. From what I heard today the crappie are starting in the Powder but not red hot.Out of 10 boats maybe 2 will really get into them. Sounds like the most consistent action is about half way down the Powder.Perch are good at the park. The cemetery has been good for crappie. While at the show I heard of a big catch of cats near Huntington taken last week.Big fish a 26lb blue. With the warm weather we are having fishing will only get better IF we have no drastic water fluctuations.I have a trip on the 25th and will post afterwards.Good fishin.
Shalom,
Yes the Cemetary is on the Oregon side, I'm guessing about 7 miles below Spring Boat Launch.

are these places that are fine to take a drift boat with a kicker?

I'm headed over for some spring break fishing fun next week also...if you run into a C-Dory with some kayaks on the roof, pop in and say hello...There is a real nice campground on the Idaho side run by Idaho Power.
steelhooked,
The wind is a bugger, and a drifter with a kicker, while doable, is a bit risky. If you feel comfortable on flat water in 20+ mph winds, you can do it. Good luck.
You satying at Woodhead Park? That's the one down near the da on the Idaho side. A great campground, but a bit far from all the action right now.

Mojo, we're going to throw in at Farewell Bend and work the whole impoundment over and stay wherever the anchor drops. I would suspect that the Powder arm is offering the best fishing and we'll not dable long on the lower stretches. Weather's going to be nice, fish will be bitting, going to have a blast

Hey Gary, so how did you do fishing yesterday?
Looks like you've been hitting all the right sports shows [except Boise] - hope that pays off in the long run.

Hi Dean,my party called from Baker and cancelled.Kind of a funky weather day although it didn't turn out to bad out here.It was the boy who caught the Id. state record black crappie and his family.Hope they re-schedule,should be a fun trip.
Crappie have been kind of elusive lately, here today gone tomorrow.Perch are good and a big catch of cats came out of Mud Flats yesterday.I haven't heard much on the bass lately.
