John Day Bass

I am itching to make a trip to the Lower John Day River for smallmouth. Have fished it lots in April,May and June but never in March. When should the bite start picking up enough to make it worth a trip?

I hope the bite starts to pickup anytime now, I have a 4 day trip from clarno to cottonwood next week :smile: . I did a float the first week of April last year and caught more big bass than i have ever caught on the John Day.
