The most important temperature is the water temp . I would have to guess at the water temperature , but i would guess it to be around 45 to 49 degree. with that temperature range you will want to fish slow , slower , and still slower . Keep your bait in front of them and you will have your best chance to catch them .Try a jig and pig in a black or a brown and orange color to look like a crawfish . Good luck and remember to fish slow .......

In cold water early in the season, try suspending jerkbaits fished slooow- with pauses of like a minute or more, on slack line. Watch your line for a little jump or movement and set the hook! Fishing plastics or jigs along the bottom very slowly can also be killer.
As the water warms, the bass are going to move into staging areas for the spawn. Target the areas where deep water quickly breaks into shallow water with a crankbait. As the bass move shallow, try tubes or carolina rigged lizards.
One thing I dont really believe in is sight fishing for spawners. You can see them in shallow water protecting their beds and the temptation is huge to catch them, and it isnt that hard. Just give them respect to finish their spawn in peace.
Josh.

Hey Nick.
Im from Silverton also class of 02' but am going to school in Corvallis now. Do you work at Wilco? Most of the bass that ive caught in Silverton are large mouths. My go to lure is a floating Rapalla fish it eather on the top just twitching it or you can use it like a crank bait. I have a got a few "secret" spots around town with some fish to be had we should hook up for a trip sometime or PM me and Ill let you know where I fish.
