If a 21 or 22 ft Seahawk got swamped(took a wave over the bow and filled the cockpit)would it float? It doesnt have flotation right? You know how the little boats have capacity stickers,I was told by a salesman that the capacity sticker means that if a boat was full of water(inside)it could handle that many people and so much weight and still float, anymore and it would sink. The boats under 20 need the sticker and a certain amount of flotation but larger boats dont need the flotation or the capacity sticker.Anyways with out flotation could the larger seahawks float full of water??? Under a controlled situation, I filled my bow with water to see what would happen. It all drained out the holes in no time flat.

Would our 21' boat sink to the bottom if completely full of water? I don't see why not. There is no foam or other form of floatation. I do suppose it all has to do with how your boat is swamped or at what position it is in when under the water

Let's hope we don't find out these things :noway:

MM you talking about filling just the bow up or the entire cockpit? You might want to ask NR what type of testing they've done.

Im talkin about the cockpit,Im not to concerned about the bow Its not that deep.I mean a wave over the top or maybe backin down on a fish and a wave hitting the stern and filling the cockpit.

As high up as the splashwell is and with your offshore bracket there to act as a shield I really wouldn't worry about that. It would have to be a very large wave to come in and swamp your cockpit. Besides you can always chase a fish driving forward instead of backing down. That walk-thru windshield will work great for that. You have big enough fish out of S.F. to back down on? Used to have to chase down sealions once in a while to get our line back and we always ran forward.
