I wanted to see if I could figure out how to post and image on here, so I am trying a picture of the jon boat that I build for fishing small waters.

3/12/04 I figured out how to get larger images by storing on a different website. The old website automatically resized the pictures when you uploaded them.

I can't make the picture bigger. I cut down thesize for posting on our website, and that's the way it shows on here. You can see that picture and the whole building procedure on the OBPC website http://obpc0.tripod.com/OBPC/index.html
Click on "Building a Jon Boat" in the left hand column. There are two pages of photos. I will also email you a picture.

Congrats on the new 'puter. Did you get the one we were talking about? graemlins/applause.gif

Looks fun! When I was a kid I fished a bunch of small ponds around Creswell, sometimes from a 10 foot johnboat.

In those ponds this was the prime time of year, before they weeded in. I'd freespool a whole nightcrawler in a flooded willow bush, wait for the line to swim off, then hook it and the fight was on. Got me hooked, thats for sure! Wish there were more opportunities for smaller waters around here!

Looks like a good boat or craft for the rivers and ponds around here, have you had it out and did it work ok as far as handling, couldn't see if you set it up for Motor, did you have to Lic. it if you keep the Motor under 5HP, just curious.

Yes Silver Eagle, I had it out over 40 times last year. I've fished Vernonia Lake, Dorman Pond, the Yamhill above Dayton, and the Tualatin among others. It handles nicely. It's powered by a 55lb thrust MinnKota using a Group 27 battery, which gives it pretty good range. Top speed is a breathtaking 3.5 mph. I bought the variable speed rather than the 5 speed and it was well worth it. HP is not a criteria for licensing in Oregon. If it is powered, it must be licensed. I also have an Eagle portable fish finder on the boat.
