I am going to be teaching my 10yr old how to cast a fly this spring. Where is a good place to get into some bluegills in the Portland area? I would like to get out in my drift boat so he has plenty of back cast room
Thanks,
Mark

You might also try Vernonia Lake. It has a good population of bluegill, perch and crappie. Also some bass and is stocked regularly with trout.

If you want to take your driftboat, my vote goes to Vernonia Pond. There are some nice gills and crappie in there also some HUGE bass stunted yellow perch and lots of stocked trout in the spring.
