For those who don't know I'm building a 16 ft drift boat. Looking at my creation in the front seat area I'm thinking why not a bench seat instead of the two conventional fold up plastic seats, will put back rests that are removable. Can you help me with should I or shouldn't I do a bench. I havent been in enough drift boats to know what to look out for. Thanks Bill

One advantage of two individual seats is for leveling your boat side to side when you first take off. Let your riders keep it leveled by keeping their seat in the same place for the rest of the day. Would be a lot harder to keep balanced with a solid bench seat.

I agree with what treegolfer said.

I have been rowing DB's for over 30 years, and believe me side to side balance is everything. You need seats that are moveable, no question about it!!

My dads 81 alumaweld DB has a regular front seat box up front with a removable pad for the seat. There are three slots to slide seat backs into. So you can have one or two up front and keep things balanced. Works pretty well and is comfortable.
