this is in the columbia at the mouth of a small river, you can see there is a large aluvial fan ( submerged delta)
in the middle of which are a couple exposed rock islands..
Now notice the "V" of deep water leading from the river up onto the flat.... What do you think of that V ???

A hwy for fish to use from which to travel from deep to shallow water.

Lots of steelheaders fish the mouth of that river.

The area looks good for spring (spawn). For the rest of the yesr I would also try the main river point just upstream. If you look at the river the river flows right at the point. I would fish the current seam just down stream from the point point (http://terraserver.microsoft.com/image.aspx?T=1&S=10&Z=10&X=2975&Y=25311&W=1&qs=%7c camas%7cwa)
Take a look at this! what do you think???????

Mayor state park POINT (http://terraserver.microsoft.com/image.aspx?T=1&S=11&Z=10&X=1583&Y=12650&W=1&qs=%7c camas%7cwa)
Looking at the Columbia River I did Find a point that looks GREAT. It's near good spring spawning bays so it should be good early and throughout the summer! I have never fished this point but the river is very narrow in this area, so the current seam area should hold fish. If the water has the right depth just down stream of the point it could be a great spot. HAS ANY ONE FISHED THIS SPOT? I have nailed some nice spring bass in the bays nearby! This would be one of my top picks for small mouth bass! What do you think??? Roger <((((><

Roger according to my river cruising atlas that point drops off into 100 feet!!!! I have fished some of the river there on the Washington side there are steep bluffs going into deep water in heavy current but there are several cuts into the bluff some of them 20-80 feet long creating some excellwnt out of the current refuge areas but be careful there are often tribal gill nets in there..

I agree with Bucketmouth. It looks like a slot from shallow water to deep water. Should be a great spot to ambush fish.

Looks like it's worth a try, especially if it's close to you. I've often questioned water, then later found out I've been missing out on some good holes.
