Lets just say that I am a fishing fool, I have the summers off and spend most of the time fishing. I have been boatless the last five year after going through the big D The new wife wants to try fishing, so we are going to get a small boat and I want to start her at brownlee because I know she should be able to catch fish. I want her to have a great time so it becomes something we can do togather. This will could lead to a bigger boat and good times. I have never fish bass or crappie that much, could some one help me with colors, times to start, and anything else that would help thanks Olgrizz

Y'know, I still swear by the half-a-nightcrawler as the all-purpose multi-species lure.

I am not a regular in Bass and Panfish but I do know about being a "new" wife and "wanting to try fishing". Actually I tried fishing during the dating part of our relationship
The proper clothing is essential. Make sure she will be warm but can still move.
Teach her how and let HER do it. Once in awhile a hook gets buried and I have to ask for help. There is something special about reaching into the water, picking up a fish, and then releasing it; let her feel it!
She is a woman and will have to use the bathroom; make sure she knows in advance how that will be taken care of. We fish out of an 18ft sled so I have a poncho that offers me plenty of privacy
It isn't always about catching fish; maybe your wife wants to spend time with you. I enjoy the scenery, quiet time and oh heck I confess...the yell of "fish on"
Be prepared to be outfished. My husband and son almost tossed me out of the boat one day; I am now known as the bassing queen but have been called a fish hawg.
You may create a "monster". My husband knows that if the boat goes; I had better be in it :smirk:
Let her operate the boat. I knew our relationship was serious when I became the first woman to operate and learn to load his sled. Not even the ex did that
I am already yelling it's time for Springers...but also look forward to bass, crappie, shad and steelhead.
Look out when she says..."I want to try hunting" yep, I had a blast learning to duck hunt this last season.

Keeper , brought up many excellent points to think about . You mentioned that you would like to fish BROWNLEE RESEVOIR , It is allways easier to talk to someone than try to type . If you will stop by the OREGON BASS AND PANFISH CLUB AT THE SPORSMEN SHOW AT THE EXPO on Thursday morning you will have a chance to talk to fishermen that fish BROWNLEE OFTEN . They love to talk fishing .

Hey olgrizz,My sweetheart and I started fishing Brownlee four years ago. She was a non-fisher when we met. After one trip to Brownlee, she was hooked. Now she plans on our trips there every year.It seems we can't wait to get there every year so we end up going in June.I think the fishing is better in July but the campground gets fuller then.We always catch plenty of crappie on a red/white jig tipped with a crappie nibble. A 16th jig head work well as most of our bites are on the bottom.Cast behind rocky points, let your jig hit bottom, than retrive slowly. The bite is often just a tick in your rod, or a movement of your line. Hi-vis.
line is a must.I perfer 4LB. p-line as the florocarbon coating shows blue in daylight. The Woodhead park up by the dam is a wonderful campground, complele with showers and ceramic tiled restrooms.Very clean, witch is important to the ladies! I met shalom there and became good friends. I hope you have the same luck!

I like the new wife! :applause:
I wanted a man with a Harley; but met one with a boat. Nothing cooler than "surfing" another boats wake in an 18.5ft sled!!!
Happy fishing
