I went out to Vernonia Pond on thursday and i caught a pretty nice bass. It was probably about 2 pounds and it actually fought pretty good. I caught it off of a Rapala Skitter Pop at about 5:30pm. Does any one know of any other good places to go catch bass west of Portland? I fish Hagg and Vernonia alot but I am looking for a new place to go and catch some bass.

Welcome aboard Bad Wood. Good to know someone out there is catching fish.
You might consider the north coast lakes such as cullaby or Coffinberry.

HI Bad Wood,
Bucketmouth recommended Cullaby Lake and he is right on! A few years ago, I caught a couple of REALLY nice largemouth off the dock right there at the boat launch. I then motored over to the other side of the lake and caught a nice mess of yellow perch for eating. It was early in the season, so I know it is possible.
Good luck!

You might try Lake Lytle in Rockaway or Dorman Pond at the intersection of highways 47 and 6 and any farm ponds you can sweet talk your way into.

Town lake by Pacific City is another good little pond that warms up fairly quickly with its sandy bottom. If you have a boat, try Devil's Lake, also
