What options do I have to wet a line close to Seaside this weekend? If I throw a float tube or pontoon boat in and bring some gear where should I start?

thanks,

Another good lake but hard to fish because of weeds, is Sunset Lake. It is on the west side of Hwy. 101 near the Astoria golf club. There are signs for the campgrounds there. There is a meager boat launch but it works. Big bass up to 9 lbs. or so and other fish.

Cullaby lake has good bass as well as some trout. Good launching. If you are just putting in a small boat, I like the small county park on the north end of the lake as you are close to the lilly pads.

Good luck.

We used to fish Cullaby quite a bit during sturgeon trips up that way. Never caught big numbers of fish but the bites we got were quality. Isnt there some slough up there thats good fishing also?

Ok write this down, in Warrenton there is a dam on the skipanon river, its on 8th street, there are some real big bass in there, my biggest was 8lbs. There are some big bass in Sunset lake as mentioned earlier. Don't waste your time with Cullaby...my opinion only. As far as Sunset lake goes, from the bridge head to the North end.
Also if you go down the gravel road that goes over the dam on the skipanon river it will take you to a slough, it might already be too weedy???
Hope this helps

It sounds like Sunset is a great option.
Thanks for all the input... I'll report back on Monday.
Also, Paul Woodrum with Wildlife Fishing Adventures knows the Smallie spots on the Columbia. Had a pleasant trip with him this spring.

You will also find lots of weeds in the North end of Sunset lake. For that matter most of the lakes on the North Oregon coast are fairly weedy.
Sunset use to real good with top water baits, use to do real well with a brown shannon spinner bait, don't know that you can still find shannon spinner baits anymore???????
You always have Coffenberry lake out at Ft stevens state park, have to pay to get in thou. Kinda of South East of Coffenberry lake is Crab apple lake, lots of lily pads, but has lots of bass too. Growing up around that area I use to catch lots of big bass.....Good luck
