It is a great spot! We use to camp on the beaches pretty much anywhere. Lots of bass! Tons of access! Mountian goats, or are they sheep, along the road! Plus Sturgeon and Steelhead!
You can also fish and camp downstream of Lewiston at some of the state parks, they are "family" campgrounds, most are pavement and grass. There are some big bass in that section of water.

feisty, The Snake in SE Washington is a BIG river. Lots of current and more than a few rapids. Free flowing down to Asotin. Lots of sandy beaches on both sides of the river. Full services available in Clarkston and Asotin. Heller Bar is about 30 miles upriver, most of it is paved. The gravel section was well maintained the last time I was up there.(two years ago) There is a nice ramp there also. It is located just North of the confluence of the Grande Ronde River. You can look at the river from the road all the way to Heller Bar. Just drive along and use your own judgement. The rapids are a lot bigger than they look from the road. The smallmouth fishing can be incredible. The salmon are in the river now also, although the season is closed. c&r by accident? How big is your boat? Jet is recommended with ample hp. Hope this helps.....Good Luck!
