last weekend i fished tenmile on the north lake. Whenever i headed toward the bank to fish i would see tons of grass which made fishing it almost impossible (navigating through it). are there areas without grass all over? Is there a way to fish this stuff or not really? What depths should i be looking for? I ended up just perch fishing at the railroad bridge and ended up catching about 50 perch and a 23" rainbow trout there (while fishing for perch with a crappie jig and worm) I am new to bass fishing for the most part and do not know where to start on a lake this size. In the past i have just casted small rapalas toward the bank and had great sucess at places like oxbow on the snake river. But i have NO idea where to fish this lake and how to do it. Many people have mentioned SENKO's in the past. I CANT FIND THESE ANYWHERE!! can someone please help me out eithe by posting or sending me a private message. THANKS! im going back this weekend maybe, so i would like to catch some bass.

Adam-

Catching bass at tenmile should be a lot easier than that. Forget the rapalas, forget the senkos. If you just want to catch some fish go and buy some 4 inch curly tail worms, black is a good color so is just about any color at tenmile, get a pack of 1/16 ounce sliding sinkers, some 2/0 hooks, and catch the fire out of them! This time of year dont bother fishing inside those weeds you are seeing - the bass are all on the deep side of them now. This is prime time at tenmile so go give them hell.

Adam,
Throw that same worm set up all around the supports of the trestle where you caught your perch (bass like perch too). Another good spot are the docks across from the campground (by the channel between the lakes). Also just up from those docks (towards the main lake, on the same shoreline) is a very large log in the water (you can only see the bottom of it on the shoreline, the rest goes down into the water) throw your same set up all around that log and see what you get! It's usually good for a couple. Also I have had my best success later in the evenings this time of year.

Good luck and have fun!
Scott

There are some good places around the south end of the island. My 6 year old grandson caught a nice 14"er from our dock on a jighead with a piece of nightcrawler Memorial weekend. Around the lilypads around the end of the island is always a pretty good bet.

i fished on saturday and sunday and managed to catch about 20 largemouths. For the first time I tried those "senko's" i keep hearing so much about. I was told that they worked really well there, so i gave them a shot. It seemed the only places i was really picking up fish were along the bank pitching the senko's under the tree branches. I would normally get a bite just before it got to the the thick grass about 10-15 feet off the bank. Also the railroad bridge had a few fish available too. I was only using the 6" senko with a 3/0 hook. I was wondering if I would have got more bites with the 4" senko. I was also wondering if smallmouths will go after senko's. Anyone know??? which colors seem to be the best for largemouths/smallies?

So where do you find senkos? I have never seen them either.

you can find them at any gi joes or at fishermans marine supply. the package just says gary yamamoto on it. it isnt labeled "senko" in large letters or anything. A little sticker in the lower left corner says senko along with the color.
