Born to Fish

Fished with Crappie Chaser on Sunday out of Richland.
Eagle Creek and the Powder River are really high now from snow melt. As a result, there's a lot of debris in the Powder Arm, and out on the main lake.
Water temps varied from 62 to high of 70 degrees.
Had a pretty good day, taking home 36 nice crappie [9-12 inches] and a 6-fish limit of bass [no monsters but nice fillet size]. They're all still in the spawning mode. A lot of smaller crappie to be had, we threw back 4-6 smaller fish for each larger one we kept. Some folks spoke of a 10 to 1 ratio, which was somewhat frustrating for them.
Most of our fish were caught on the main lake above the mouth of the Powder Arm, typically working the rocky points, steep drop offs and a few of the small coves.
Heard that Richland was going to have their first-ever Crappie Derby sometime in later June - - poor timing because the fish will probably be in post-spawn scattered mode by then.
Gary, thanks for a good day on the water. Real pleasure fishing with you.
