I'm having a new boat built soon(I hope). One question I have is which diamond plate is best.I have seen the 5 bar style diamond plate a couple times and it looks like it works well, but is it better than the standard diamond plate in terms of non-skid?Thanks

At work we have a lot of aluminum diamond plate, it still gets slick when wet. If I was having it in a boat, I would etch it, prime it and the final coat mix in cleaned beach sand. With that, it like walking on sand paper! As for 5 bar style diamond plate, I have never heard of it. I must be out of the loop!

d plate w salt on it is slick, slick, slick. Add fish blood, smelly Jelly and a spilled beer and things get ugly quick.

Most of the alu boat builders use coatings that have some texture, inc sand. Downside is it is tough on leaders, nets, etc.. I think the stuff on mine is made by PPG. Saw one at SEA show that used LINE X bedliner.

Have fun w new boat, nothing better than having one built,,except for fishing it.
