Would a 9.9hp motor go slow enough to troll with in a 16' drift boat?

You will probably need a sea anchor out no matter what size motor if you want to slow troll.There is very little drag on a driftboat bottom.I had a six horse on mine and needed a sea anchor.The only time I did not need it was backtrolling.

RR is right. i have a 6hp yamaha and even in good current on the lowest throttle setting the boat was making headway! dont think you need more than a 6hp. i use mine on the willy and never had a problem getting around.
