Has anyone had any experience with Boulton boats? I saw them at the Portland boat show, but know nothing about them.

If I was looking at a nice sled, they would be on my short list.

I'm looking for a 20' general boat for ocean & lakes. I saw their sea skif, but I heard from one other person that they don't build a good boat - rattles too much.
I liked their off shore layout - the other aluminum boats don't seem to have their features.

I have a friend with a 23' with a 135 Honda on it and it's an excellent ride. Has a deep V (forgot the degree) and has tons of room. I think it's built like a tank. And I mean that in a good way.

Boulton makes a very strong boat. They are on the "Short List" for sure. I looked at them last year when I was thinking of getting a new boat and the sea skiff was at the top of my list for that style.
Pay attention to the hull structure.
Very good boat. I've been around a few, but I've never rode in one. I met a dude at Chinook with the 20' Skiff w/90hp merc 4-stroke. He just LOVED it. Had over 500 hours on the engine. Very reasonable price too. I would definately check them out if I was to sell my Intruder.

I have a 20' Boulton.... love it! However, I would never buy from their dealer representatives out on marine drive!!!

I love my 20' Sea Skiff w/ Yami 115 4stroke ... won't leave home without it. This year it gets a radar tower. 20 miles after TUNA & Halis is no real problem - fishes the high lakes also.

A guy down the street had one with a prop out drive. From the looks of the dog house it probably had a big V-*. Looked like an awesome boat and I've definetly been interested in Boulton boats since seeing it. Where are they made?
Good Thread

Critr, is that 115 enough power? I test drove a 20 ft intruder w/merc 115. With 3 guys in the boat it was a dog..even the sales guy said it need more..

I believe that hull design, trim and prop pitch is where the you'll see the difference. With full tanks, 9.9 4STK kicker & 3 guys loaded with gear I can trim out at 36-38. More than once we were able to cruise back in from some flat TUNA days at around 30.
It originally came with a F100 which seemed a bit marginal esp on the bar.
Sure I would like a 150 but I can buy a lot of boat jewelty for the price difference $12+K vs $7.8K.
The F115 is a proven design + I got the extended warranty last year for free...

We are very happy with our 20-foot Boulton open boat, 175 SportJet, rear console. Great skinny water boondogging boat. Excellent on the Columbia too (at 68-78 F, with little or no wind ).
