Many of us own inboards as well as I/O's. Some own Mercs, some Volvo Penta, some OMC, etc. I may off base here, but most of them use either GM and Ford marinized motors or others. So when Volvo Penta, OMC or MERC says to use their certain oil filter or gas filter how can you find the reference to cross check their numbers against after market brands? Going from a Merc engine oil filter to its compatiable brand made by say Wix, Napa or the like? Same with Volvo and OMC? I know you could probably just take the old filter into a NAPA store but it would still be good to have a reference at hand to check out for yourself and for ones piece of mind.
