When theres water in it Brownlee is top choice. Catch a 100 or more crappie and then go beat up on a bunch of smallies.

Brownlee is the KING of warmwater fishing in Oregon hands down! I'm counting down to my annual month long trip there in May! It was out of control last year!

I would have to say "Swafford Pond" in Lewis County!!
Brownlee. Where else can you catch 200 crappie in a day, many which are over 12"? Also through in the Smallies, Perch, Bluegills and occasional Largemouth...It is awesome!

Okay, I get it: Brownlee is the tops.
But what about one closer to home for most of us western Oregonians? I'm too lazy to drive 300+ miles to catch them itzzy bitzzy ones.

Tenmile...between north and south lakes in the winter. Panfish stack in the channel from what I understand.

I see where a lot of you chose Brownlee Reservoir, and I agree - that is a hotspot. However, it is surprising that none of you mentioned Owyhe Reservoir just to the southwest of Brownlee, and Ontario, Oregon. Maybe thats good - less pressure, and more smallies and crappie, for the rest of us who fish Owyhee. Also, the river below the dam can be great for trout [some hugh browns to be had].
Dean! Shhhhh! Don't broadcast my hotspots! Yikes!

Oops, sorry Mojo....my mistake. What I meant to say was that the god-forsaken country southwest of Ontario, OR is devoid of any surface water......and it's infested by trillions of humongous rattle snakes with bad attitudes.
Definitely don't want to go there!
Yup, Brownlee is definitely the place to go.

Watch out for dem snakes....they'll get ya! :depressed:
Remember, that's desert country - no water.

:hoboy: Born to Fish, Mojo, oops, I'm all over that one. Hopefully they will ease up on the water fluctuations in the future. In the past it has been disastrous. There's another area around there that's real good also but there alittle smaller.

You let the cat out of the bag on Owyhee, I think that it is much better than Brownlee and less pressure. You can catch all the crappie that you want...then go try for smallies and the Big Browns on a fly rod are amazing. Shhh!! But you are right on the rattlers....lots and lots of them you can't get out of your car to launch your boat they are so thick

What about cambel lake by hart mtn?. there hasn't been very many places that have produced that size of crappie any where in the world. Three pound crappie didn't even have bragging wrights. I understand the big ones are on the way back again. Lets hope so.
