Well....I finally got to use my dropshot mold that I just got at Fishermans. Poured up about a hundred and fifty pieces from 1/8 to 3/8. The 3/16 and 1/4's will probably be used the most. The only real expensive part is the little swivels that go on the top. But even at that as much as I go through weights it sure beats bying them. Now maybe the wife will let me go fishing.....right!!

Drop Shot....haven't seen you on the river in forever and a day. Earlier this year I seemed to see you everywhere. Hope you can make it to the Jamboree.

Lightline you're not the only one that that did not know about it. if I had not just moved I wouldn't know I had it. I found it on accident while looking for something else. I will go try to find it again. Tim

what is the big deal with the drop shot weights. you can use pencil lead or slinkys. in the same set up and it will be less snaggy. i saw the pros using them on tv this weekend too.

Granted slinkys and pencil work just fine but the key is having a swivel above the lead to help eliminate line twist. It can be horrible. Besides, getting a mold and making them is pretty cheap. I use slinkys too in really snaggy rocky areas but like the possitiveness of feeling the bounce with lead. And it's like any hobby you truely love ... you just like to get into it more. From pouring worms, to making leads, to painting cranks...it all comes into play for the level of satisfaction you get from it.

you can attach a swivel and snap to pencil lead or slinkies. but that is great you have made a hobby out of it. i just wanted to save some others here some money. cheers.

Hey fishin,
Oh, I know...I just like getting into it and if you share the cost of the mold with someone and do some pouring together it comes out pretty cheap. Figure seven or eight cents for the little swivel it doesn't take to long before thats all your sinkers cost...and I do use the lead especially when the wife lets me go fishing!! And this Sunday I get to go and fish....none combat here I come...so will post a report. Been awhile since I got some December bass. A few years ago I did in the lower Willamette in behind Cedar but the water was up and muddy and it was ever so cold. Now everything is warm and wonderful. Tight Lines
