Weekend report from Hagg Lake.
South end of the dam produced some stocker trout (bottom fishing with power bait and bobber and worm). Had one large trout 18"-20" clear the water not 30 ft from me. Lots of surface activity. Some large Bluegill to be had
as well. Smallmouth seem to be working the rocks but didn't catch any.

ExMilitary,
What is the general location and method to use to take BlueGill? I use to fish the Snake River below Brownlee for Crappies and BlueGill and had a blast. Since I moved out to here I have been looking for a place that has a decent BlueGill/Crappie fishery. Are they there this time of year?
Thanks,

I too went to Hagg Lake on the weekend. The Smallmouth bass fishing was very slow. Largemouth were feeding though. No big ones this weekend. The blue gill were hitting crappie jigs near the dam under a bobber at about 6 feet. Some nice slabs to about 9 & 1/2 inches.
Crappie can be found near bottom over by the submerged logs in the slow part of the lake.
Perch were on the bottom in many different areas. They too were hitting crappie jigs with a bit of worm attached.

So, no replies on the jigs but i went down there anyways. Started off at the dam right in the middle, fished a chartruse and silver jig 10 ft down. Had two good hits but no fish. It got fairly windy so I thought I'd try one of my other fav. spots, when I got there the channel I usually fish had NO water in it, the lake was unbelievably low!! I drove around the whole lake and scouted it out a bit, nowhere seemed to look as good as the dam. So I went back. Did'nt go as far out this time and tried a red and white jig tipped with a worm which ended up being the hot ticket. I landed three trout in ten minutes all right around 12-14 and one 7 in largemouth. They had no interest in my offering until I began twitching it back in. Hope this helps, i'll be back out there before the week is over.
