View Full Version : Commonwealth lake (Pond) in Beaverton
Hey:
Does any one have any experiance fishing this little lake. I have walked around it once, looks a bit muddy, but that would not stop a good bass fishery. It is on my way to work and it would be a good place to wet a line for an hour or so.

Back in 1995 or so I worked for the landscape company that updated and refurbished the park. We had to drain the lake and dig out the settling basin on the east end of the lake. The only fish that were in there were carp, koi, and a few catfish. No bass or bluegill. Doesnt mean there arent any in there tho'. The lake is all mud bottom.
Good luck.

After they drained the lake, there were warm water fish planted in the lake. Every spring, when trout season opens, they plant it with some trout. I fished it once or twice but never caught anything. There are fish there, but catch them, I don't know. Trouble is mostly duck s--- all over and that causes problems in the water as well as the land.

I have fished this lake a couple of times with a small topwater (zara puppy) and caught lots of little bass (5-10"). In 3 or 4 trips the biggest bass that I caught was about 14". I would guess that there are some bigger fish, but I have not tried too hard to find them. I keep meaning to fish a carolina rig, but have never gotten around to doing it.
