My goodness..."what is a real fisherman"?
I believe that was the Oregon Bass and Panfish club get together. They have done quite a bit for this state with warm water fisheries along with taking out a lot of kids and doing functions for them.

rebell: After nearly sixty years of fishing in Oregon I can't tell you what a real fisherman or a fisher person is. Might it be the person that is stalking the banks of fall river with a two weight eight foot fly rod?, Maybe the person that sets in a hawg line for ten hours a day for a springer, The person with the white bucket? Maybe the people that walks the banks of our rivers for a steelhead or two. I don't know. I can tell you that all of them are competitive. ( I don't know what competive means) They compete against themselves, they compete against the fish, they compete against each other, you know the old two bits for first fish, four bits for the biggest, six bits for the most. Its in the nature of people to be competitive. As far as tournament anglers go, some of the finest fisher persons I know fish tournaments. They don't maybe win all the tournaments, they maybe dont even place, but they are out there holding kids casting contest, they are putting kids that dont get a chance to fish in their boats for a day, they take handicap kids out to fish, and the list goes on. Now that I think of it I do know what a real fisherperson is.

lightline, I agree 100%.
Im proud to say that I am one of those peaple that give my time to help kids and any one else that might ask.
Its to bad that the tournaments get such a bad rap. Most peaple dont realize the amount of time many of the bass guys and gals put in to helping kids and all of our northwest fisheries. As tournament anglers though we have a major problem with P.R.
This next season lets all try to slow down some and show everyone that we are responsible anglers. Lets all try and improve our image as tournament anglers so that we can continue having tournaments in the future.
Good fishing.

Oregon Bass & pan fish were there, And so were the Columbia River Bass Masters. The Columbia river Club only had six boats. And most stayed in the lower channel. I ran to the tip of the island, and a little bit up the willie. My boat won with just under 11lbs. ( Columbia River club, The ones with the green banner on their motors)
Both clubs out there that week end do, Cast for kids, work on projects for the betterment of both fishing and the rivers in general. And the best part is I belong to both clubs.
I think am a real fisherman?????

bassin...cool.
Good job. I fished the old Willamette again yesterday. Fished all new water with lightline. Had a good afternoon. Saw only one jet ski (not a real fisherman) and one other ski boat. Water was like glass. It was an awesome afternoon. Water has dropped almost 5 degree's in a week. But they still be hungry.
