...to post a picture of this fish, but I don't care because I haven't wet a line since September!!! Caught this snakey little hen on a local river using a cluster egg pattern. I suspect it is a spawned out summer brat even though it is deceivingly "bright".

In spite of no winter chrome, I can't complain. Had a great day with my Dad. I can only hope I'm getting around as well when I'm pushing 80!

Dad didn't hook up but did have one solid take. Can't blame him for using gear today, the wind was really howling at times. He does FF and is actually the person who corrupted me into fly fishing and tying almost 40 years ago.

Good show!

Maybe you can "ferry" me around when I'm 80 (in a couple years)!

Same type of steelie I caught (decievingly bright), they fool you for a little while.

Nothing to be embarrassed about. Good looking fish. There is also something special about spending some good quality time with your father.

No reason to be embarassed about that; every steelhead is an accomplishment to me. Sounds like a great day on the river. Very nice that your dad can still get out there with you.

Thanks for posting.

Hi Silverfly, thanks for stopping by yesterday. I caught one of those today, and my buddy caught one last week. All were very bright and healthy. The good news, in about 3 summers that creek should have some nice summer runs coming in.

Most of the spawned-out bucks i've gotten have been pretty beat, but I've gotten some post-spawn hens that gave me all I could handle. That and the pseudo-bright pale color had me fooled until I got them to the bank and discovered the sunken belly. Still plenty of fun to catch.
