I've got word of a good size resivour in eastern Oregon on my aunts new property has not been fished in 3 years. If at one time the resivour was stocked with bass and bluegail what are the chances the fish are in a healthy population if the right factors have been in place?? Or is my question totaly out of place and there is too many factors?? Can anyone give me some insight?? please and  thank you

If they were stocked there and the lake hasnt been fished in three years you more than likely just found a honey hole!

Its a tossup??? I have fished ponds like this that have not been fished in years and most of the time they are over populated with lots of small fish in the 10-13 inch range. Other times the can be full of HOGS!! Lot depends on size of the pond and forage. Hope this helps a bit.
Good luck

That all depends on what part of eastern Oregon the water or there lack of is on. There are several lakes and resovoirs that are bone dry this year.

It could be a great place to fish or a good start for a fishing tale. I hope you find the fishing good. Please contact the ones that replied with an e-mail and an invite. Sounds like a blast or a good book.

The one factor thats not mentioned is when was it stocked and how big were the fish theat were put in. if you put 50 12 inch bass into a 1/2 acre pound with no cover for bait to hid in they dont stunt there grouth. the fry during the spring become the food for the summer.....if there is lots of cover and water the fish well keep producing and growing for a number of years then there growth well tail off.
after a number of years when the original 50 die off the short fish well rule the pond....its great that blue gill were stocked as well lots of food for growth so like the above replys...go catch a hawg and report back...DJ
