I'm loking for information on the Musky fishery at Lk Merwin. Anyone know of a source for information or have any experience?
We fish there on a regular basis for Kokanee and hearing that they're in the lake has our interest up.

I don't know about Lake Merwin, but there is an active tiger muskie fishery in Riffe Lake (maybe Mayfield or both) above Barrier Dam on the Cowlitz...they're non-breeding hybrids...also some others in eastern Washington, I think...the washington dfw site might have some information...

Tiger muskie are definitely in Merwin. Stop at the tackle store on your way up to the lake, they are located on the left side of the road just as you leave woodland. There are pictures of people who have caught the tigers from last summer and this summer.
Mayfield has the largest concentration of Tiger Muskie west of the cascades. However, WDFW indicates that the next state record is likely to come out of Merwin. There is little pressure on them. Finding tackle to fish for them may be a little tough though. Retailers don't carry large bucktail inline spinners or other muskie catching gear.
