Umpqua Smallies

Took 3 teenage boys to the river for 3 days of camping and fishing last week. The total at the end was over 800 smallies caught and released. ( except 4) Same old tactics, 1/4 oz. jig with 4" Rattlesnake plastic worms, or Zoom mini-lizards. Biggest was 18", but allot of other big fish also. Many were around 2 to 2 1/2 pounds. The big ones must be bulking up for winter, never have caught so many of that size in one trip. Saw a few steelies sneeking up the river also. This fishery will be excellent for another month if the rains don't start up.
Take a kid fishing here, they will be hooked for life. :cool:

Man it doesnt get any better than that. Taking my 8 year old this next spring. Reading your post didnt make it any easier for him to wait.

Lets see, may is only like 20 years away to a 8 year old. Man its going to be a long winter.
