I'm heading up to the lower John Day tomorrow to try and catch some smallies. I have only been 1 time before and the wind started howling at about noon. I've talked to a few people since then and they say that is pretty common up there during that time of the year(June). Should I expect the same tomorrow? Is there a weather report I can read somewhere that will tell me? Thanks for any info. Oh yeah...how's the fishing? Any recent reports?

Check posts on 8/21 for recent report.
It's been slightly stormy over here for the past week; a little bit of rain and wind. Flow at Service Creek has doubled in the past week.
For WX, open an account at KATU-tv "microcast" and enter long. and lat. for weather forecast at a place you're interested in. I have one set for "priest hole"- a couple miles upriver from the mouth of Bridge Creek. Seems to be fairly accurate altho the forecast wind speed is usually somewhat slower than actual.

www.weather.com (http://www.weather.com) and KATU's Microcast (I think you have to register for this) give wind speed predictions, but I find them quite inaccurate. One time I went to the Deschutes and had to quit fishing due to high winds, but the forecast predicted less than 10 mph winds. However, I was flyfishing, so I was more adversely affected than if I was gear fishing.
