Santa brought this happy flyfisher a one-of-a-kind, hand-painted fly box. He must be violating some child labor laws up there at the pole, because a 2 yr. old elf named Sofia and a 4 yr. old elf named Lucio did the work...

That's a great box! All my fly boxes are well worn aluminum or plastic. Nothing made with love by my kids. I'm jealous!

In the couple weeks before Christmas, I accidently left a few small hints lying around... a reel circled in a GI Joes ad, some stuff in an Orvis catalogue, etc.. Well, about a week ago, Mrsnorthfork (aka northforkgonesouth as she claims her ifish name would be if she had one) looks at me with about as serious a look as I've ever seen her muster and she says emphatically, "I am not buying you any fishing gear for Christmas." Well, apparently stuff for the driftboat doesn't count as fishing gear because she surprised me at the in-laws with a sweet set of oars. :flowered:

Wife bought me to my surprise a very nice assortment of tying materials from cabelas. Luckily she knows her fair share about tying...
She also bought me some Patagonia Capilene undergarments for those cold mornings...and a nice pair of polarized glasses....thanks baby!!!

I got enough money to buy whatever fishing gear I want! And I spent some of it on a new fly line. I got the Rio Versatip in an 8wt for steelhead and light salmon fishing. I still have yet to fish for a steelhead or salmon with my fly rod so hopefully this will be my reason to get me out there.
