Beach/Saltwater fishing?

I am planning on heading down to the coast very soon and I thought I should probably bring a rod or two. Does anyone recommend any waters near tillamook for flyfishing from the beach? I have done it in Nor Cal with very limited success.

Flies?
Line?
Time of day?

What should I expect to catch from the shore?

I have striped clousers off the jetty up there and got some rock fish and surf perch it is a lot of fun but I would recommend a striping basket. Chart. and white calf tail was the color I was using Rp

I'll be in Rockaway over the New Year's weekend. Drop me a line if you'll be down then and maybe we can hook up. I've tossed flies into the salt for perch a few times but to no avail (though I did have one solid hookup with a clouser... unfortunately it was my thigh). lnf
