With the Fall Chinook season winding down I gathered my winter steelhead gear and headed out to wet a line. I've been busy at the vise tying up some new jigs including one promising new pattern that is appropriately called the:

Steelhead Shrimp Tail Jig

This jig is a blend of shrimp & hot pink hackle for the main body. I then added white schlappen to overlay the hackle. As a final touch a sporty shrimp hackle tail and matching Krystal Flash were added. I have a strong feeling this jig is going to be one of my top producers for winter steelhead.

I didn't have to wait long to find my first winter steelhead. This 10-pound hatchery hen devoured the jig and proceeded to tail-walk across the water several times before I eased her into the shallows for a quick picture.

This jig is exclusively available only from First Cast Jigs and currently is on sale for a limited time. To read more about this jig and other new products, please take a look at our online store.

Have fun fishing.
