Well 2004 has been an awesome year for both work and play. This years fishing season will be one for the records. Last years steelhead fishing was awesome. With very few rain out days and just over an 8 fish per day average I am frothing for this year to get started needles to say.
Who can forget the spring season " Back Bouncing below Bonnevile" :yay: enough said
Then off to the Nushagak where the fishing is alway mind boggling. But this year even had me realing. After 8 years of fishing up there this was by far the most producitve I have ever seen. The first week we had boats hitting 80 to 90 fish a day. And it just kept going from there. For the 2005 season I have 8 spots availble all of them prime time coming in the first week of July. Do your homework and you will see that the first week of July is the heart of the season.
After retuning in August its the start of the fall chinnook season. August takes me to than the no other, Bouy 10 where chinnook limits were easy and silvers were abundant.
Tillamook Bay season rolls in and is awesome and for that matter is still rolling. With ghost hole limits and river limits still being caught.
But even a fishing guide has to have some play time so when November rolls around its time to hunt. Between family and friends it was a bountiful year. With several bulls and bucks killed and even an Antelope for my dad this seasons hunting was as good as the fishing. Last week topped off the hunting season as I was able to harvest a once in a lifetime buck with my muzzleloader that after the drying period will probably land in the top five for Oregon of all time.
Hopefully the 2005 season will be just as promising, I know it is going to start out as my wife and I are expecting our first child in January. I guess anything after that is a bounus.
2005 STEELHEAD SCHEDULE
Dec through Mid January Tillamook area rivers
Mid Januray through Mid March Siletz River
Mid March trhough Mid April Wilson river
Happy Holidays.
