My fishing buddy and I are thinking of giveing Mission River (lake?) in the willamette valley a try. Does anyone have any experience with this place. Someone over at REI suggested it. This is an act of faith for me as I only fish for trout, steelhead and cutties. Well, once in a while Ill go out to Vernonia lake! thanks for any suggestions.

I've never heard of Mission River. There might be a Mission Lake or Reservoir somewhere in the valley though.
I'd check on it a little more before you plan a big fishing trip there. I'm a fishing junky from Oregon and I've never heard of the place...

Mission lake is an oxbow lake located in Mission state park near salem. If you arent getting anything at Mission lake try Goose lake which is located in the state park also. If you like to fish in solitude I would fish Goose, after fishing them a few times ive had more luck at goose for bass, but for crappie and other panfish I've done better at Mission.
