There's quite a few good bass lakes in our area, most people just don't think to stop.
1. Lacamas lake is good, fish the shoreline where the rich folks live. Topwaters including poppers seem to be hot. Spinnerbaits produce the bigger fish alot less frequently.
2. There is a whole series of lakes in the ridgefield wildlife refuge that hold bass and other warmwater fish. Get yourself a map, look for water and walk. Some of it's on private property so be respectful of that. All traditional baits seem to work. If you stay late most contain catfish as well.
3.Near battleground on the old SR-500 there is a small pond that actually holds good numbers of smaller 1-2 pound fish. I like to fish for these using small floating plastics fished on the surface. Be prepared for surface slime.
4. Vancouver lake and lake river both contain bass. Fish the docks and houseboats.
5. Battle ground lake has BASS! Most people didn't know that. Finding them is the trick, but i'll give you a hint. Use sonic rooster tails near the bank, eventually you'll find them. Once you do it's fish after fish(small).
6. Nobody gets my secret spots yet, I have to catch my state record first.
Please catch and release
On I5 near the woodland exit I beleive there is a fairly large pond on side opposite the columbia river. I have been pondering stopping and fishing this for many years. Anyone ever tried this? Also at the longview exit on I5 there's a pond that looks like it has some good bass cover...
