I've often said you never know what you might catch in the Willamette -
This morning I caught, in order, a bass, a crappie, a yellow perch and then - what is this thing ... a flounder? It's a pocket halibut, please identify my fish. It actually fought pretty well, I thought it might have been a smaller bass until I saw it. It was about as big as your hand, brown on top white on bottom, fins are sort of striped brown and white. Flounder?
I thought I was on my way to catching every species in the river ... hey, it's only a matter of time before I hook a steelhead, eh? ... then another smallmouth and the cycle started to repeat, but just repeated crappies and then the sculpin bite was on and then it fizzled out completely by noon.
No pirahna today!
