Haven't tried making my own other than by accident one day I found out if you put dark colored worms in the same bag as lite colored worms and put them in the sun you can make some interesting hybrid colors.

Has anyone tried making there own plastic baits? Worms lizards, tubes etc? I'm intrested in doing this so I can add my own scents when the baits are made, and because it would just be fun to make my own gear. If you've tried this were you sucesfull? I will look for any links I can find on this and post them below.

Cabelas and Jann's Netcraft have the stuff you need to make your own plastics, including the liquid plastic, coloring agents, and molds and injectors. It's pretty simple to do, although the plastic tends to be a bit easy to scorch. Definitely don't want to use an open flame because the plastic is flammable. Nice thing about making your own is you can add hardener to the plastic and make tough plastics for ocean bottomfish (which tend to rip the tails off bass lures after about 2 casts)

Hand poured, soft plastic baits are 100 fold better than commercially made products. I was buying mine from a place out in California instead of making my own. They made a finesse worm that was amazing. I can't remember the company's name though. Get into this, but don't get into it to get rich. Get into this new hobby to catch more fish!
