RE:the 60 HP Merc 4 stroke. Posted earlier this week that I was only able to generate 3500 to 3800 rpm. Should go to 5600. Took it to Stevens Marine this week and they said today that, in their test tank, it gets right up to the 5500 spot on the dial. Now, I was born at night, but...I've had this boat out several times in several locations fighting this low rpm deal. Kicker up, kicker down...no difference. Right prop, nothing on the underside of the boat, no reason why it doesn't wind up in a body of water, but does in their tank. Anyone want to add their thoughts? Thanks for all your previous input. Most of the people on this board seem like extended family. Great group of people. Pray for Steve Koler.

It isn't pushing anything in the tank. It seems to me that the prop is probably too big for your boat.

If the prop's too big for the boat, why did it just all of a sudden start behaving this way then? It was fine before...

Just started doing it? Getting up to the right RPM is still easier and would require less HP than pushing the boat. I assume there must be rev limiter.

So, anything that could reduce HP is suspect.
