I've got an '03 19' Stryker. The fuel guage is nearly useless and I was wondering how expensive it is to have a fuel flow meter installed to correct this problem..... Anybody?

I just purchased a Navman Fuel 2100 for $150.00 I have not installed it yet, but it looks very straight forward and will do everything you need for fuel monitoring.

We put a 3100 in the San Anita... the 2100 will do just fine, and you will love it. Even with gauges that work ok...you will love the data you get back from a flow meter. They are outstanding!

Another one to look at is the Standard Horizon FF41.
Easy to install and works great.

This is an appropriate topic for my first post.
I also have an 03 Stryker with a malfunctioning fuel gage.
I was hoping that the warranty would cover this problem. Wont it? If not why? Alumaweld has a respected name and should honor it's warranty.
How hard is it to fix this problem? Anyone else have this problem that has had it fixed?

From what I've read in the past - fuel guages are pretty useless in smaller boats as you need to be in a certain position for them to read true. I've given up on mine and will be installing a fuel flow meter sonn. I just gas up every few trips at this point to make sure I'm topped off.

mine works great.. as long as it is sitting on the trailer on flat ground..

I installed one two years ago. IT was the standard horizon. The fuel gauge on my boat was ok. Now I know exactly how much fuel is left and also the best part. I know where the sweet spot is for the throttle. Just a couple hundred rpm change can make a big difference in fuel comsumption. I can run at 35mph and use about 11 or 12 GPH now crank it up a bit and run at 45mph and I am using 22 or 23 GPH big difference for not much increase in speed.

Capt. Dan..... what exactly do you mean by "malfunctioning"?
If it doesn't work at all, yes, I expect the dealer would take care of it. If it's just inaccurate most of the time, that's the nature of a long shallow gas tank without a flow meter..... ergo, the reason for the original question.
Good luck with it.... Tim

I installed a Navman 2100 on my 4.3l OMC last year. easy to install and use. Cheapest of the flow meeters I could find by far.
My meter is GPH (Gas Per Hour) and it also records gallons consumed. Real important when there is two tanks of 35 gallons each and the regular meter is not very accurate so the GPH meter is real important. Specially when you go up Hells Canyon in the Snake river and there isn't any filling stations in case you run out of gas. You better know how much gas you have and how much you have used or your in serious trouble.
