I bought some pontoon cleaner the other day at Boater's World. I haven't used it yet. I'm planning on trying it on my aluminum boat. Has anyone else tried it, and if you have, do you have any words of wisdom?

If it is the Acid base cleaner make sure that you cover your trailer with Plastic bags. Don't let it dry on your boat keep it wet and let it set for awhile. If you want to add a little shine use a green scrub pad and scrub lightly in a horizontal pattern. I would definately try a small area that might not be too visable before attacking the full boat. I used an aluminum cleaner on my boat, then got crazy and polished the aluminum, lots of work but looks great, I then coverd the boat with sharkhide. The sharkhide has kept the aluminum from oxidizing and looking great.

I just bought and used for the first time a 3M product that I bought from G.I. Joes. It is a aluminum cleaner and polisher in a cream type. I used it on my aluminum boat and that stuff is great. Takes alot of rags but if you have the time try this stuff. It's the marine rated by 3M.
