Hi,
Anyone have any insight into Miller Lake browns?
I understand a lot of the lake is fairly deep (40' - 60'?)
but the satelite imagery shows some shallow areas and weed beds up along what look like drop offs etc.. (of course it could be shadows etc.).

I called the Chemult Ranger and he noted the following;
1. mosquitos getting better everyday (less that is)
2. water temp shouldnt be too bad, had rain off and on all august, etc., still some inflow...
3. only had trolling advice

Never been and was hoping someone might have some ideas for us.... I've heard 4 and 5 pounders are in there somewhere....

We are planning to go Sep. 10th, 11th after all the Labor Day tide recedes from highway 97 ;-)

Also, you can fish 24 hours and it will be (near) a New Moon....

my plan so far;
1. early AM - one of us throw the big baitfish fly (white/olive popscicle) - one of us sink and fast strip (Roxy Rainbow?)
2. daytime - deep dredge buggers or ?
3. nighttime - maybe big black bunny leeches at night?

Cheers

Miller Lake?

HORRIBLE PLACE!

OK, now that we have scared away people. Miller is actually over 120 feet deep. Best fishing area is around Digit Point Campground on the Northwest side of the Lake. Fish from the "handicapped" campsite before the boat dock and campground, all the way past the campground to where the swimming area is. The hour before sunrise, and hour after sunset is the best time for finding big browns feeding in shallow water. I don't know why Miller gets so little pressure, but suspect it is too far off the beaten path. The 11 miles of gravel road into Miller, which it seems like half of that is "washboard" might also deter people from making the trip. It is one of my favorite places to camp and fish. Great for families also! SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
