Spoke to a friend that was there Saturday. He said it was a bit off. When he waded in to above his knees he couldn't see his feet. He saw a few fish caught on spinners but not on flies. With the numbers coming over the dam it's time to go! :yay: :yay: :yay:

I just got back from a 3 day from macks>mouth.
water was shaping up. only 4 wild fish landed. all on lures.
I had one grab on a fly. caught some nice trout nymphing.
fish bio said things were still slow. that did make me feel better.

It's dead... Talked to a biologist that said the fish just started moving. Thought I hooked quite a few steelhead that just ended up to be big redsides.
Plus it was a full moon this weekend, ugh.....

Went up to the mouth early Saturday (9/4) and was staking out my run at "O" dark thirty. Saw a flashlight coming down the trail and I signaled with my light where I was. Did this several times until he was about 50 yards off and then he proceeded to wade in to the bottom of my run anyway. Oh well, it was pretty low percentage water. Visibility was about 3 feet. At around 7am I hooked, landed and bonked a 5 lb hatchery buck. 10 minutes later, a monster rolled on my fly, I felt the tug, set the hook and missed. Judging from the size of the tail, it must have been low to mid teens. Another 10 minutes, and I hooked and released a 7lb native after a good running, jumping fight. The fellow that low-holed me stood in the same spot, was casting the same length of line, and changing flies every 10 minutes. :help: That was a sight to see. I started with a purple peril, switched to a coal car, and then put on a greenbutt. All fish were hooked on the green butt. I didn't see any fish caught upriver. When I hiked out I watched some spinner guys tie into 4 or 5 fish at the mouth. For a Saturday, I saw only 3 sleds head upriver that morning.
Tight Lines.
