So, the wife pulls a "let's get some friends together and go to Suttle Lake on Labor Day" on me a month or so ago. Archery season is starting; hunting in Idaho the following week; the lab is getting older and she wants to chase grouse and doves which will be open then; and my wife wants to go camping

So, to capitalize on my time in the great Oregon out-of-doors, can anyone give me an idea of what kind of fish to focus on at Suttle (we have never been their, but my trusty "Hennings Guide" gives me some idea) or other local bodies of water? Only going to be able to sneak a couple of hours here or there, so Crane, East, Paulina, Met. are a bit to far ranging for me.

Thanks for any thoughts,

Ras

Are you taking a boat? If so theres Koks and Browns. I have,nt fished it in years though. You might try a streamer on a sink tip at the west end where Link creek comes into the lake. The browns like to chase the koks in the fall in that area. If your taking gear the kok fishing can be good that time of year just ask other boaters.

Ras, the Metolius is right down the road from Suttle. Bring a 7 wt or better, sink tip and throw big, like 6", bunny leeches for Bull trout in the deep slots below bridge 99. Some very large fish in that river, plus it is, IMHO, the most beautiful in Oregen. Good luck.

Thanks guys.

Yeah, I guess the Met is closer than I was thinking (should know, I was through there early last week :hoboy:). We will have a boat, and my buddies' Ski Nautique will offer a wonderful casting platform .

I am thinking that Koke's should be starting to stage sometime soon near the inlets. Maybe some big 'ol browns might be a fun target. Any idea if the Lakers come up to chase them little sockeye this time of year too?

Thanks,

Ras
